Advancial Federal Credit Union welcomed classic car owners and enthusiasts to open its newest branch in Katy, west of Houston, this past Saturday, August 5.

“We’ve never hosted a car show at a branch, but to have one as part of a grand opening event was a perfect combination,” said Deborah Griesbach, Chief Marketing Officer at Advancial. “The Katy Cruizers were great partners. They were all so enthusiastic and supportive of the idea, and I’m thrilled that so many were able to bring their cars out for the day and show them off.”

The grand opening event was well attended; Advancial estimates nearly 250 guests came and went throughout the day, looking at cars and enjoying the hot dogs and hamburgers provided by the James Coney Island Coney Cruiser food truck. Attendees also met the Katy branch Member Service Representatives and toured the building, which includes unique light fixtures, a stone feature wall, and iPads for the youngest Advancial members.

Also attending the party was D’Art, the Money Musketeers mascot, who took photos with kids, handed out fidget spinners and replica classic cars, and posed with a beautifully restored cherry red 1957 Chevy Bel Air. Visitors entered a drawing to win a large Yeti cooler, and the first 100 guests were given an Advancial tote bag filled with giveaways.

“I’m incredibly pleased with the success of the grand opening,” said Yolanda Martinez, Branch Manager of Advancial’s Katy branch. “We opened new accounts, met Advancial members from the surrounding area, and had a great day. Advancial is truly excited to be a part of the Katy community.”

Advancial Federal Credit Union hosted a grand opening celebration at the newest North Texas branch in Allen. The grand opening doubled as a pet adoption event, as local rescue organizations brought dogs of all sizes for a meet and greet with potential new forever homes.

“We’ve hosted several adoption days at various branches throughout our service area, but this is the first we’ve held that was also a grand opening event,” said Deborah Griesbach, Chief Marketing Officer at Advancial. “It’s a great way to bring our community together, meet our members in Collin County, and hopefully place some of these sweet dogs with new families.”

Although the weather was uncooperative for the first hour of the event, unleashing buckets of rain on North Texas, the skies cleared by mid-morning and Advancial welcomed a sizeable crowd. DFW Lab Rescue and Bull-luv-able Paws and Chi Wawas Rescue attended and brought adoptable dogs ranging from big to small. Food was served all day, including donuts from Max’s Donut Shop, Starbucks Coffee and ice cream from What’s da Scoop food truck.

Joining in the celebration was D’Art, the Advancial Money Musketeers mascot, who took photos with kids and dogs, and waved hello to passing cars on W. Exchange Parkway after the rain let up. Visitors entered a drawing to win one of several giveaways, including a Yeti Cooler stuffed with Advancial swag.

“Even though the beginning of the day was a little soggy, we had a fantastic event,” said Ashley Dambold, Branch Manager of Advancial’s Allen branch. “We opened several new accounts and met a lot of people from Allen and the surrounding area. There was a great feeling of community and I noticed several families filling out applications to adopt. Hopefully they can bring a furry family member home soon.”

Advancial Federal Credit Union has upgraded and simplified their credit cards with the launch of the Visa® Rewards Plus Credit Card.

“Advancial, like most credit card providers, was passing on fees and charges related to the card use to its members. Fees like the international fees that Visa charges for purchases in foreign countries or fees associated with cash advances, however, feedback from members indicated their frustration we these charges,” said Brent Sheffield, President and CEO of Advancial. “So Advancial committed to simplifying its credit card product decided to bite the bullet by reducing its own profitability to improve its member satisfaction. We have removed all these fees and more to deliver a credit card that is unmatched in its overall offering.”

To learn more about members’ credit card preferences and spending habits, Advancial held a series of focus groups to determine which features were the most important. “We quickly learned that our members are very credit-smart in their spending habits,” said Deborah Griesbach, Chief Marketing Officer of Advancial. “They like low rates, hate seeing lots of different fees and have differing opinions on how they want to use their rewards points. Many members agreed that they wanted a credit card that earned rewards, but offered a low, fixed interest rate and with no annual fee.”

Advancial’s new credit card, Visa Rewards Plus, combines a great low rate and no annual fee with the ability to earn rewards for all purchases, no matter the size. “One of the most exciting features of this card is the ability to earn 50% extra points if a member makes 25 or more purchases or spends $2,500 or more in a billing cycle,” said Griesbach. “When we surveyed members, we found that they use their credit card in a variety of ways; some put only large purchases on the card, whereas others put every single purchase on the card. The new Visa Rewards Plus credit card rewards Advancial members no matter how they use it.”

As predicted, Advancial members are responding well to the new credit card. Since Visa Rewards Plus launched in March of 2017, 40% more credit card applications have been received compared to the same time period last year. Additionally, Advancial members who use both Ultimate Checking and Visa Rewards Plus can combine their points for gift cards, travel or cash back in this extremely flexible program.

Advancial Federal Credit Union has opened a new branch in Katy, Texas. Located near the intersection of I-10 and Grand Parkway near the Katy Costco, it will serve members in Katy and west Houston.

“We’re very excited about this expansion into the Katy community,” said Brent Sheffield, President and CEO of Advancial. “This branch has a unique look and feel that we think our members will really enjoy. The large windows let in so much light, and the space feels very open and welcoming.”

At the new Katy branch, members can enjoy some of the same features at other Advancial locations, including a coffee bar and special seating for our youngest Money Musketeers. Advancial Federal Credit Union recently opened another North Texas branch in Allen, Texas. Located at West Exchange Parkway and Alma Road, the newest branch will serve members in Collin County.

“A large number of Advancial’s staff have contributed their thought and time to making our newest location in North Texas another place where members are happy to manage their finances,” said Brent Sheffield, President and CEO of Advancial. “After a lot of planning, we are excited to expand our services to Allen.”

When they visit the new Allen branch, members can enjoy a coffee bar, iPads and kid-sized chairs to keep our youngest members entertained.
